At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Selina (Mugodi) Cheshire

Empty Nest Coach | Author | Wellness Coach
I grew up in the rural village of Chivi, Zimbabwe, where resilience and courage became second nature. Witnessing my cousin’s early marriage to a much older man lit a fire within me—a passion to support those navigating life’s toughest challenges and reclaim their lives on their terms. My journey has been far from easy. I’ve faced the heartbreak of a failed marriage, opened a seamstress shop after divorce, trained as a secondary school teacher then moved to the UK with no idea how I was going to survive. I joined a church and trained as a nurse working with people who didn’t take medication by depended on prayer. I lost my job after writing a book, My Pain My Teacher. After losing my job my kids were my support network as I was a single mom. I’ve also survived stage 4 cancer, an experience that transformed my perspective on life. I’ve also survived stage 4 cancer, an experience that transformed my perspective on life.
