We held a TED Talk viewing session with a group, and the theme was "Electricity."
Electricity is the swiftest medium, connecting things as it propagates in waves. A medium receives electricity from one side, resonates with its wave, and transmits it further. This continuous ripple closely mirrors how ideas are delivered, resonate with someone, and are passed on to others, creating a chain of vibrations and transmissions. Using "electricity" as a foundation, let's expand on its elements.
Electricity is energy.
Energy derived from vast power sources like wind, water, geothermal, and nuclear energy ultimately converges into electricity. In this sense, electricity can be seen as the currency of the energy world. This "currency" transforms into light, sound, heat, or kinetic energy, flowing into various applications. If we equate the intense emotions or vibrations experienced through others or events to energy, the process of converting and shaping it into a transmissible form is akin to generating ideas or words. Words, like electric energy, resonate with the unique frequencies of the human heart, creating profound waves of emotion and movement. This is akin to the jolt from accidental contact with an electric charge.
Electricity is light.
Light is an electromagnetic wave, comprising electric and magnetic fields intersecting perpendicularly—electricity in its essence. Light is often used to symbolize hope or the path forward. Experiencing an "electric shock" (feeling light/electricity) could reveal hope, a path to follow, or even shadows cast by the light, prompting us to notice and reflect on them.
Electricity is information.
The transmission of information within our brains relies on electrical signals across synapses and neural circuits. Similarly, computers process and store information by sending electricity through countless transistors, toggling switches on and off in a circuit. In this way, information is integrated, transmitted, and stored as electrical signals.
We, too, may be electricity—or lamps.
Each of us carries the potential to be like electricity, a source of energy and light. We illuminate, resonate, and transmit ideas and emotions, creating ripples that affect and connect the world around us.
