Aahana Shanbhag

Year 12 Student
Aahana Shanhbag is a junior at Sharjah English School. She is extremely interested in interior and exterior design. She plans on studying architecture and aims to contribute to creating timeless, sustainable designs for the future. While completing her A levels, she plans on researching the links between architecture, trends and the environment. As someone young and interested in how the mind links feelings to the room they are in, Aahana explores the world of interior design and its direct link to emotions.

Adit Sood

Year 10 Student
Adit Sood is a Grade 9 (Year 10) student at Sharjah English School and an avid chess player. He is a passionate programmer, aspiring to pursue a career in computer science and artificial intelligence.

Christopher Roche

Biology Teacher, Head of Science
Christopher Roche (Mr Roche) is a passionate educator involved in data monitoring of the Science department and carrying out comprehensive reviews of external assessment in schools. He is currently in the role of Head of Science, alongside being Principal Examiner for Biology iGCSE, Chemistry iGCSE and A level Biology for Learning Resource Network. He is also an experienced exam writer and marker for Cambridge International GCSE, for both Biology and Environmental Management.

Evie Rosello

Year 8 Student
Evie Rosello is a Year 8 student at Sharjah English School. She recently moved to the UAE having previously lived in London, England. She is keen to share her views and enjoys public speaking. Evie discovered the golden ratio last summer and it sparked her interest in what is deemed beautiful and why.

Jason Plummer

History Teacher
A graduate of Swansea University in Wales, Jason Plummer (Mr Plummer) has been a History teacher for the past ten years, having also served for four years in the British armed forces prior to studying a PGCE in secondary History. He has taught in a variety of settings, both in a domestic capacity in the UK and also Togo, The Bahamas, Tanzania and here in the wonderful UAE.

Lily Rosello

Year 8 Student
Lily Rosello is a Grade 7 (Year 8) student in Sharjah English School. She loves maths and physics, especially space. She wants to do a degree in engineering when she is older. Additionally she enjoys PE and drama and hopes to do them for GCSEs. She is originally from London and hopes to do her A levels there after moving to the UAE this summer.

Maryum Rabbi

Year 12 Student
Maryum is a student at Sharjah English School, currently pursuing A-Levels, with a strong ambition to study medicine in the future. Her interests extend to psychology, where she examines the intricate relationship between logic and emotion. In her TEDx talk, "Mind vs. Heart: The Battle of Logic and Emotion in Today’s Society," Maryum explores dopamine-driven behaviors, impulsive decision-making, prejudiced thinking, and the critical need for balance in a fast-paced, modern world. As a teenager in a world overtaken by the rise of social media and its influence, she brings a unique perspective on navigating these challenges.

Vardaan Chaudhry

Year 12 Student
Vardaan Chaudhry is an aspiring entrepreneur and leader with a passion for innovation and creativity. Currently serving as the Head Boy at SES, he has led initiatives to enhance student well-being and academic engagement. As someone who takes an interest in modern societal trends, Vardaan aims to foster meaningful conversations that take a step back to gain a better understanding of societal behaviours and the economic interactions they influence.

Zara Zamir

Year 10 Student
Zara Zamir is an aspiring medical student at Sharjah English School. Deeply fascinated by the complexities of the human brain, Zara is passionate about neurology and neurogenetics. In the future, she aims to make an impact on healthcare through clinical research in precision medicine for neurological disorders. Zara is also eager to integrate sustainability into healthcare, particularly by exploring innovative surgical waste management. Beyond her academic pursuits, she enjoys engaging in philosophy, specifically in the areas of bioethics and epistemology, hoping to inspire others to critically think about the nature of knowledge and reality. Zara's talk will explore the block universe theory and its implications on our perception of time.

Zayan Zamir

Year 9 Student
Zayan Zamir is a National level Robotics competitor who sees his future in AI powered Robotics, with a deep passion for programming, engineering, fintech and space technology. A Year 9 student at Sharjah English School, with a special interest in Artificial Superintelligence (ASI), Zayan aims to drive technological innovations transforming problem-solving capabilities. One of Zayan’s research interests lies in integrating sustainability with space exploration by developing AI driven systems for autonomous spacecraft management, aiming to improve energy use and reduce waste. Outside his tech focus, he enjoys speedcubing and art. Zayan’s curiosity in metaphysics inspires his TEDx Talk “What is Something?” which fuels his exploration into the fundamental particles and forces that make up our universe.
