Theme: Redefining Possibilities with Artificial Intelligence

TEDxBCP Johar Town Youth will be an independently organized TEDx event under license from TED, hosted by the Beaconhouse College Programme. Our event will bring together a diverse group of speakers, attendees, and volunteers, united by a common goal: exploring the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on society, culture, and the future of work.
The event will foster an environment of inspiration and innovation, encouraging youth and community members to envision new possibilities that AI brings to life. Our theme, "Redefining Possibilities with Artificial Intelligence," will explore both the potential and challenges of AI in reshaping industries, influencing policy, and impacting daily life.

Dr. Agha Ali Raza is an Associate Professor at LUMS and the founding director of the Center for Speech and Language Technologies (CSaLT). He will discuss "Democratizing AI Safety: Inclusive NLP for a Multilingual World," exploring how AI can bridge language gaps and empower diverse populations globally.

Syed Darashikoh Hashmi is a communications specialist and entrepreneur, with extensive experience in radio, theatre, and business strategy. His talk, "AI and the Creative Industry," will explore AI's role in content creation and storytelling.

Maryam Khan

Climate Policy Consultant & ESG Expert

Maryam Khan is an experienced climate policy consultant and ESG expert, having contributed to platforms like The Diplomat and Dawn News. She is the Founder and CEO of Climate News Pakistan. Her talk, "AI and Sustainability," will focus on how AI enhances ESG compliance and drives climate resilience.

Naveed Shehzad

Manager, Learning & Development, Fatima Memorial Systems

Naveed Shehzad is a corporate training expert and AI awareness mentor, specializing in strategic employee development. Holding a Master of Science in HRM from Birmingham City University, he will discuss "Talking about the Future of AI in Pakistan," exploring AI’s impact on business and workforce development.

Peter Marton

Director, Entrepreneurship Partnerships, and Professor at Boston University

Peter Marton is the Director of Entrepreneurship Partnerships at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business, with over 25 years of experience in high-tech start-ups and ventures, including IBM and Fidelity Investments. In his talk, "AI and Entrepreneurship," he will share insights on AI's impact on the entrepreneurial landscape.

Rehana Kazi

Educational Technology Expert

Rehana Kazi is an AI integration specialist in education, with an MPhil in Education Leadership and extensive experience at LUMS and The Citizens Foundation. Her talk, "AI and Education," will cover AI's role in transforming classrooms and empowering educators.

Sarmad Shahbaz Bhutta

Assistant Commissioner, Inland Revenue

Ch. Sarmad Shahbaz Bhutta is an accomplished public servant and global policy advisor, currently serving as Assistant Commissioner of Inland Revenue. He has been a Commonwealth Ministerial Fellow (UK), SUSI Scholar (USA), IVF Fellow (Russia), and Youth Policy Advisor (South Korea). His talk, "AI and Public Governance," will explore AI's role in transforming governance and policy-making.
